Annual Appeal 2025 – Fund of International Solidarity

03/04/2025

“Together, we are always stronger”

Message to the Presidents of National Councils, Conferences and members of the SSVP around the world

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Following the example of Saint Vincent de Paul and guided by the love and teachings of Our Lord Jesus Christ, we once again address you in a spirit of hope and gratitude. We humbly request your generous support for the 2025 Annual Appeal to the Fund of International Solidarity (FIS).

This vital fund, managed by the Commission for International Aid and Development (CIAD), enables the International General Council (CGI) of the Society of St Vincent de Paul to act swiftly and support our brothers and sisters doing all they can to respond with compassion to disasters and other emergency needs across the world.

Thanks to your commitment to the unity of our global network and your tireless generosity, we are able to draw on contributions to the International Solidarity Fund to provide urgent assistance to those in need. This aid is delivered through our Conferences and local Councils, which are already serving their communities. In many cases, they operate with extremely limited resources, and your support makes an extraordinary difference as we walk alongside them in faith.

Vincentians are called to be instruments of God’s compassion. Each year, we must replenish this Fund to ensure we are always ready to act in times of crisis. That is why we humbly ask for your continued support today. We encourage you, your Councils and Conferences, and all members, to come together and renew this annual commitment to Vincentian solidarity by giving as generously as you are able.

Your contribution will allow us to:

  • Equip Vincentians on the front lines of emergencies with the necessary resources, serving as the hands and feet of Christ in times of need.
  • Maintain sufficient reserves to respond immediately to future disasters, without needing to launch dedicated special appeals, which may arrive too late or result in contributions that exceed the local Society’s capacity to use them effectively, thus leaving funds locked in an account that can only be used for the specific disaster for which they were raised.
  • Support member Councils struggling to develop programmatic responses to systemic poverty and increase their ability to meet emergency needs within their communities.
  • Embody the hands, face and compassionate heart of Jesus, both locally and globally, joining together as a community of faith and compassion.

We invite you to share the CIAD’s annual report and discuss it with your fellow members, as it shows the remarkable impact of your contributions on the lives of those who suffer. This is the fourth year in which we rely on a single annual appeal rather than separate appeals for individual emergencies. This approach ensures that all needs are considered, including those resulting from disasters that do not receive broad media coverage.

Our Commission is committed to transparency and accountability, ensuring that funds are used effectively and swiftly, in a spirit of good stewardship.

We invite all members of our charitable network to support the International Solidarity Fund generously. While some may be fortunate enough to give larger amounts, every contribution, however small, is deeply appreciated and valued as a reflection of the solidarity and charity of our international network of compassion.

And above all, we ask you to pray for those affected by disasters, and for those working to help their neighbours in need.

Servants in the love of Christ,

P.S. Please help promote this appeal by sharing it with the leaders of your Council and Conference, as well as with the wider membership. From the General Council to parish volunteers, we are a global community of love and support. Together, we respond to crises and systemic needs and proclaim the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

Thank you for your generosity and prayers.
